I am Riccardo Rorato, a professional sailor and sailing instructor with over 60,000 nautical miles sailed, including several ocean crossings. As a fully qualified RYA Yachtmaster instructor (for Sail & Power), powerboat instructor, VHF assessor, and Shorebased Ocean instructor, I teach both recreational and professional maritime courses across the world.

In addition to my instructing roles, I am a Training Skipper for the Clipper Round the World Race. Here, non-professional crew members undergo four weeks of intensive training onboard 70ft racing yachts in the UK and across the English Channel before embarking on their round-the-world race.

Working for sailing expedition companies and private sailing vessels has given me the opportunity to explore some of the most remote destinations on the planet, including French Polynesia, Kiritimati, Hawaii, the Caribbean, the Bahamas, Iceland, and Greenland.

Although I hold two engineering degrees and a PhD in Geotechnics (long story…), teaching people the art of sailing is my greatest passion, one that I will never tire of.
