Sail Handling
Spend a day on the water enjoying some sailing out of Badalona Marina. Depending on your level, you will learn (or practice) helming, sail trim, reefing, Man Over Board recovery under engine and sail, and anchoring.
Boat Handling
“Parking” can be one of the most stressful tasks for inexperienced sailors, but with a few clear concepts and a lot of practice, it becomes much easier. In this course, you will maneuver and berth the boat in all possible ways:
- Tight turn in a confined space (understanding the effect of prop kick)
- Reversing
- Berthing alongside (under onshore and offshore wind conditions)
- Med mooring (reverse parking)
- Leaving a berth (onshore and offshore wind conditions)
- Use of the mooring lines and springs
- Engine checks (daily checks to prevent 90% of the most common engine failures)
Asymmetrical Spinnakers
Racing
This course requires a minimum of 3 participants to have enough “hands” to control the sails and the ropes. We will prepare the boat for a kite hoist, a long downwind run with lots of gybes, and prepare the boat for a drop. We will repeat the process several times.
